What would you like to do before you die?

Lisa at Two Bears Farm has a thread going about what people would like to do before they die.  Just one thing you really want to achieve, see, visit, or do before you take the big dirt bath.  Here's your chance to articulate your innermost secrets!

Two Bears Farm

I would like to take a sailboat down through the Caribbean and go back to places like Saint Thomas and Key West that I visited long ago.  I have the license and the experience, but I wouldn't want to go without my wife and she won't.

  1. Thanks for the mention! It's a great dream - sorry your wife isn't interested. I've been to a few places down there (Honduras, Belize, Grand Cayman, Jamaica). I really enjoyed Costa Rica - the people I met there were filled with kindness, in spite of their impoverished lives.

The top of my bucket list is Peru. I want to see Machu Picchu before I kick the bucket :-)

    1. You'd like my middle brother. He and his cronies rode a Russian helicopter into Machu Picchu. He likes Peru a lot too.

My trip would only be fun if she went. But she is afraid of going out on small boats. I would be a little scared about going out of sight of land, even though that is totally irrational. But that is what makes it attractive to me. You have to be scared for an experience to be a "last hurrah" type of thing.

Costa Rica is where my brothers want us all to go for our old age. R and T have both been there many times. It does sound good.

  2. I would like to meet my great great great great great great great great grandchild. I figure if I make it to 200 yrs old that should do it. I might do a couple of other things while I'm waiting :)

    1. Well, I wonder if you would really want to be alive at 200? I am finding sixty heavy going, myself. Tom Clancey died this week and he was only 66. I hope you make it.

  3. I want to see New Zealand - every movie which has the country listed as the rural backdrop is drop dead gorgeous. I'll probably never be able to afford such a trip, but I personally would really like that.

    1. My brother R went there to hunt Red Deer. Then he went Boogey Boarding even though he knew there were sharks. He also went to see what was left of the set of the hobbit village in lord of the rings. I hope you get to go, it sure looks beautiful.

  4. I have traveled a lot of the world and don't care to see much more overseas I would however love to travel in maybe a RV and visit each state (the most interesting parts of them) and stay a month or so in each location. Interestingly enough I had wanted to travel the Caribbean as well in a boat but my wife was not on board (pun intended)

    1. You and I have similar ideas. My wife said she would be ok with getting a nice RV and doing some traveling. I think the boat plan for the Caribbean is a good one, but not something I would want to do without the wife.

  5. I'd like to have a threesome with a couple pros in Vegas. Gotta sell the wife on it...maybe for my fiftieth or something.

  6. I don't think that will fly. Not unless your wife is unlike any other wife I ever knew. That would threaten the nest.
