He was a great guy, and he had a sense of humor too. I'll check out the link.
Harry,(captaincrunch)I'm glad I own a semi-auto AK. I got one of those WASR's from Romania. 1983 manufacture a 'cold war special'Everyone bashes AK's and the WASR variant, but I have occasional miss feeds in my AR's as opposed to "ZERO" miss feeds with the AK.I know all the AR fan's will bash me for doing something wrong' like not keeping my bolt lubed or something. Lets just face it' AR-15's are built so tight that they are prone to failure as opposed to the loose' stamped togather AK that has the tolerences of the Grand Canyon. If you need a rifle to save your life' Get an AK. Odd's are you wont be let down.
Harry,(captaincrunch)I just thought of this (with a little humor)The AR is like a miss priss woman that is very good looking but real high maintenance and is very 'stuck up'The AK is like the 'drunk chick' at the bar that will go out with anybody:)I know its a crude analogy, but funny.
Captain, I own a Chinese Type 56, and three AK-47's. They are superb weapons. Never jam, work fine on even poorly manufactured ammo, and have a better feel to them. If you are a target shooter on a range, the AR-15 might suit you better but everybody else needs an AK-47.
Harry,(captaincrunch)I think its wise to own several different rifles. Supposed 7.62 by 39 mm ammo was banned or the importation was banned, etc. I would want to keep shooting so I have an AR. I also have .308 for the M1A. What it boils down to is at short range, I like the AK and at medium range, I prefer the AR platform and at really long range, I like the M1A.Down here in South Texas you can hunt feral hogs with an AR, but I would prefer the AK for a sure kill.
Wow. Even the jokes about the man are accolades for his weapon. We should have traded Eugene Stoner and a couple of million dollars to the Russians for MTK.
doesn't Kalashnikov mean son of the baker or the bakers sons....kalach (kolach/kolac) is a type of bread in the Ukraine. it is made in a circle and can be plaited or to mimic the sun.
Sol, I'm not sure but it wouldn't surprise me.
