A good news story on Electro Magnetic Pulse from Fox News.

I can't get the embed feature to work on any of the Fox News videos, but this was on their news page today and I thought it was interesting.  Here's the link:

  2. Yeah, it should be working now. I had a hell of a time getting it to link, but I just checked it and it worked ok.

  3. We are snowed in today. You still holed up as well? We didn't get that much snow, but it got so cold it iced over the roads (and they still haven't plowed ours...and might not) and without four wheel drive I can't get out. But I made some homemade bread and have a fish stew in the crockpot, so it's not bad.

    1. Lisa, I'm not going anywhere. Everything outside is frozen. It was so cold at one this afternoon that when I tried to start my vehicles and let them run awhile I had to start the Jeep with an electric "crank starter."

I wish I had some homemade bread. I've never had fish stew but it sounds good. Instead, I fried a bunch of ham and have been snacking on that.

  4. There seem to be a number of EMP skeptics out there within the prepper/survival world. Not sure how I feel about it myself as I have read both sides of the issue and each seem to have some valid points.

    1. All I can really say is that back in the 1970's and 1980's it was considered a real threat by the USMC and USN. Virtually all fixed plant communications equipment was protected from EMP by expensive "add on's" and as cheap as the Marine Corps has to be, it would never have spent the money if it weren't a threat. These days, if the Iranians or North Koreans wanted to pop one off up in the ionosphere from one of their crappy old freighters off shore, I'm not sure what would stop them. I don't have a lot of faith in the alphabet agencies that way. They are too busy screwing over U.S. citizens and reading our emails to worry about EMP.

  5. Any skeptic should watch this. they've already slapped an emp "laser" ( of sorts ) onto a cruise missile. The end result is the same, as seen when the computers get knocked out.

  6. I haven't seen that but I will take a look. I think it was dreamer who was telling me about a new device the police have in the UK that uses EMP to stop cars. I think even troglodytes like the Iranians and the North Koreans could pull something off in terms of EMP.

    1. I saw this also, it its for the police to stop cars. And then it wont be directed to only the car they wish to stop, it will spiral out. hence our hard drives that we use for storage are in faraday bags.
