"Just the facts, Maam"

Remember Sgt. Friday used to say that on Drag Net?   Maybe not, unless you are in your sixties or so.

Miriam came out of the wreck in worse condition than I realized.  It will take her awhile to get back to normal and I have been occupied primarily with that in the last week. Hence no posts.  I've just been too tired and too far behind the power curve.

The police report says she failed to yield the right of way.  She was not conscious when they hauled her off in the ambulance, so the only people who gave a statement to the police were , guess who, the people in the other car. One suspects their version of events might have been somewhat stilted.

I am just now getting back to some semblance of order here.  I let the blog go, and I also let the book keeping go, so now I am having to go back and straighten all that out.  She will be coming home on Friday and staying home for a week or so. She has enough sick leave so it is not an issue on the job front.

I will try to get around to everyone's blog and see what I have missed .

    1. Well, you have to keep all the balls in the air to be a good juggler, no matter what the distraction but I dropped a few of them this past week. Now I have to get back in the groove.

    1. I could use some additional sleep. Say, a solid week.

It's all getting taken care of though.

  4. I feared it might end up being something like that. The rules regarding lane merges and right of ways are much more convoluted than they used to be these days and it has been my experience that in any given situation it's a 50/50 shot at just who the cops will say was in the wrong. As you said it doesn't help they only heard one side of the story either.

Good to read your getting caught up and no injuries were long term.

  5. I'm not really too worried about the legal ramifications of the wreck at this point, although I'm sure I will be once all the other dust settles. I have liability insurance, it's more the grinding, never ending being bothered with the insurance company in something like this. Right now I just have to keep things on an even keel while my wife gets over some physical and mental aspects of what happened.

  6. I didn't realize how serious the accident was Harry, my very best wishes to your wife for a speedy recovery. Good luck with the insurance company, they are happy to take your money for 20 years but when it comes to making a claim they run a mile!!

    1. I didn't either. She was beaten up a lot worse than I was told initially, and the experience frightened her as well. She just needs a little time at home, where she can rest and get over it. I am picking her up sometime Friday and we are coming home. She will be taking a week off and then we will see how it goes.

I'm not a big fan of insurance companies either. They are all smiles when you are paying them, and then all technicalities and codicils when you have a claim.

  7. I'm sorry to hear your news on Miriam, Harry. She is in my prayers.

At this point Blogland is not important. Take it easy and rest up whilst you can.

    Get well soon, Miriam

    1. Dani,

I'm trying to get back in control of things. This past week everything has been disrupted and a lot hasn't been taken care of that should have been. I think soon I will be on top of it. It's disconcerting to play catch up.

  8. Hey Harry,

    (captaincrunch)

Hope things get better for you asap,

If you want, send an address of the knucklehead with the giant truck that smacked your wifes car. Maybe some gremlins can do some 'midnight auto salvage' or the old 'Gulf Coast Float Test' to see if that trucks amphibious.
Gee Whiz' that a pickup truck would make 'sweet artificial reef and point break' at some surf spot somewhere:)

    1. CC, it was an SUV that hit her. Maybe I said truck before, I can't remember. I have no idea who it was, or who was driving. Neither Miriam or myself saw the other vehicle. I just know what the insurance company has told me, that the other vehicle was only lightly damaged. My wife cant' say what happened because she does't remember anything at all about the wreck. But based on what the other party said, Miriam was cited for failure to yield the right of way. She's a careful driver and I don't believe that, but apparently the police didn't bother to get any other witnesses names or addresses.

    1. Hey, dreamer. This whole thing is like spinning an airplane. In the spin, all you worry about is getting out of it. Once you have, you can worry about heading and airspeed, etc. We are just coming out of the spin and I'm trying to get everything back in line now. It isn't easy but we will get there.

    1. I know. I am just trying to get our normal routine reestablished after all this uproar. I don't know if it has to do with age, or just my nature, but I am more comfortable when things are running in the normal course of events.

  12. OMG Harry, give M a massive hug from me. How awful of the other people to lie. Get well soon M! Xxx

Blogs come last to everything else. You both take care of yourselves.

  13. Sol, I don't know for certain they did, but the only sequence of events on the police report came from them, since my wife was not capable of making a statement at the time of the wreck. She says she doesn't remember it all now. The police didn't take any statements from witnesses. So, the only version is the other parties, and I am not a very trusting person in such cases. It would be very unlike Miriam to do what they say she did, she's a cautious driver. We are getting things back into order here, it just takes some time.
