My sympathies are with the rancher and the militia.

  • Fox News.  THE BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT announces that it has ended its mission to remove cattle from a rural Nevada range after a tense week-long standoff with rancher Cliven Bundy and militia supporters.

When I worked in the oil and gas business (for twenty years) one of my jobs was to clear land use leases with BLM on oil and gas working interests.  They are not to be trusted. Period.

This guys family was ranching this area before BLM existed.

The fact that you are "in violation" of some government law or regulation does not make you wrong.
I admire the people who stood up to help this guy.

I'm sure the stress of  all this will eventually kill the man, but you do have to have respect for someone who doesn't just roll over for the Federal Alphabet Agency Nazis.

  1. I am very happy that the Feds backed down. I still don't trust the Feds.

    1. Hell, no. No further than you can throw them in a hurricane. But this is better, at this point, than having a Lon Horiuchi shoot the guys wife through a screen door with a baby in her arms, or everybody in opposition to the feds being "accidently" burned to death.

  2. I fear we have not heard the end of this. I applaud the people that came and stood in support of Mr. Bundy and his family.

    1. So do it. Because they are all marked men now. The feds were surely out there with as many cameras and weapons. They have a universe of ways to hose citizens who stand up against them. They can revoke your business license, stop your pension, intentionally foul up your retirement, arrest you for anything they want, hold you for months, trash your house and place of business, then release you for "lack of evidence" when they figure you have learned your lesson. So it takes a lot of courage to go stand by somebody they have it in for and be supportive.

  3. With harry Reid being flushed out as one the ring leaders and the bad optics had they shot those people today as they had threatened....they had to fold today. But I think the poker game isnt over on this.

But today I'll celebrate the win for Bundy, and the BLM backing away like cowards.

    1. Well, if it's true the plan is to put a reactor out there, Uncle Sugar will find a way. He never lets people's lives be obstacles in a plan for "the greater good."

  4. I doubt that the powers that be will let this go without extracting a pound of flesh somewhere. But Mr. Bundy, his family and his defenders deserve my standing ovation.

    1. So do the people who came out to stand with them. I had no idea until I read the Reuters article just how many found the courage to do that. I understand now why the Feds suddenly "saw reason."

  5. They still robbed the man of as high as 700 head of cattle I have seen written. They offered to share the sale proceeds but we know how far that will get. Be interesting to see if Bundy can actually bounce back from this financially perhaps they feel they have accomplished what they wanted it will just take a bit more time to play out now.

Yes I need to send you an email I keep forgetting. I am very bad at emails and text messages :)

    1. The Reuters article said the government gave him back the cattle they had in their pens after the crowd "explained things" to them. I don't know if he will be made completely whole but that has to help.

I just wanted to make sure you hadn't send one and I missed it.

    2. Harry - Yep I see now where the cattle were freed as well. That's great. I was behind on my reading.

This is the first step I think. The rural people and States are finally seeing they have to stand up to Federal tyranny or die. Thing are beginning to turn but they have a long way to go yet.

    3. If I went to something like that, I'd wear a bandana over my face and I'd hitch a ride with somebody else. No one should ever underestimate the capacity for evil inherent in some of those alphabet outfit people. However, I have to say, I was staggered when I read that more than a thousand people showed up to support the Bundy's, and many were loaded for bear. Maybe the people in the west have a bigger set of cojones than the rest of us, though I like to think that Southerners will still stand up for their rights if it comes to it.

    1. A lot of people did, and they came "pack'n". If that had happened at Ruby Ridge Vicki Weaver would still be alive. It's a heartening development.

  7. They returned the cattle they had rounded up, yes, but from what I heard listening to several videos available of the standoff, they only rounded up the cows & left the calves out there to die. Those calves represented a lot of the Bundy family future. Leaving them out alone in the Nevada heat wasn't the brightest moved I've seen, but it would account for the different numbers (134 vs over 200) of cattle involved. Once it hits the ground, the calf counts.

  8. Given what I know of BLM from personal experience, that would not surprise me in the least. Frankly, I wouldn't have been surprised if they had simply shot the cattle and left them to rot. Their goal was to ruin the Bundys, more than it was to profit from seizing the cattle. I hope they can survive, I don't entirely understand the economics of this particular set of circumstances but I'm sure that the Bundy family has limited funds, while the government can always wring more in taxes from workers, or simply print more by hitting a button.

    I appreciate your input. That's a factor I hadn't considered at all.

  9. Bravo!!

Too often man cowers in the presence of authority, just because they are authority. It's heart warming to see the support that the Bundy's had from friends / neighbours. There is hope for mankind yet!

    1. That's painfully true and no where more so than here. Our school system is finely tuned to produce good drones. They may not be able to read, or write, or add but people come out of our schools thinking that they should look to the government for all their needs, and obey without question. It's very heartening to see that there are still some stalwarts out there who haven't been trained into obedient Sheeple.

  10. The pictures that came out of the last standoff are incredible.

The cowboys on horseback, with the people behind behind them..... and then the one from further back of the patriot sniper....and I'm sure he wasn't the only one.

We came pretty close to the event horizon, today, of something nasty.

    1. I think you are right. I also believe that eventually, the government will do something so fascistic, so egregious, so blatantly unjust, that the fur will fly. It will only take one incident of this nature to blow up and all the rage and resentment people have suppressed for so long will explode.
