Amanda Blackburn

I don't know if you have been following this, but it's been front page news here for several days. Until, that is, the police caught the killers. Then it just faded away.

Amanda Blackburn was the wife of a preacher. Probably not germane other than that he trusted God to take care of his family. No guns, no training, no basic precautions.

So not long ago he went out for an early morning work out at the gym. He left the door unlocked.

While he was gone, these three came callings.

It was a pretty typical home invasion. Except that while the gang went to use her credit cards to get money, they left her alone with the third gang member. She was pregnant, but that didn't bother him. He raped her, then shot her in the head. She died.

These guys all had gang associations, long rap sheets, but they were out of jail.

Black Lives Matter. I guess. Apparently others don't matter so much.

Her husband says he forgives the killers.  There is much I do not understand about religion. I try to, but it makes no sense to me in some respects and this is one of them.

  1. God helps those who help themselves. Christians have the obligation to defend themselves, and that includes carrying concealed and keeping your doors locked.
It is between him and God if he can forgive.......I could not

    1. The primary responsibility of a husband and father is to provide for and protect his wife and children. This guy completely failed to protect his unborn child or his wife. Now he's prancing around on television, looking noble and saying he forgives the killers and had a good life with his wife while she lived. (She was 28). Personally, I'd like to smash him in the face.

  2. In Luke 23: 34 when Jesus was hanging on the cross he said "forgive them Father for they know not what they do." He was referring to the Roman soldiers who crucified him as they were ordered not knowing who he was or knowing his innocence. He was not referring to those who had him murdered knowing what they were doing. Forgiveness in true, traditional Christianity requires confession and repentance. As in the Catholic practice of confession and repentance. This new Evangelical heresy of forgiving all wrong doers who know exactly what they are doing is not true Christianity but a modern liberal perversion that leads people into error and mis-understanding of true forgiveness--ken

    1. Well, I am not very religious. I feel like I feel and I don't try to modify my views based on any precepts of someone else's code of conduct. I am not denigrating anyone who does. It's just not my style. I can't see any excuse for having something like this happen and then "forgiving" the perpetrators.

It's just not on for me. Not running you down, Ken. You're entitled to figure this out based on your own beliefs. Agreeing with me is not a prerequisite for participating here.

  3. Honestly, I find this fellas reaction interesting. I suppose he could look at it the other way, and be bitter the rest of his life. But then if he has other kids, I wonder how they would turn out in life. If he has made the choice to forgive his wife's killers, then he is a better man than me, for sure. I couldn't do it, and I could never rid my home of guns. But he made his choice and has to live with it. Maybe this tragedy will change his mind.

On the subject of Black Lives Matter--it is a terrorist organization...no different from Daesh. Watch them burn Chicago down now with the latest cop shooting. --Troy

    1. He's not a better man than you. He's no kind of man at all. Too bad the three stooges didn't catch him at home instead of the wife.

I will sit back and laugh if Ram Emanuel's little left wing Emerald City goes up in flames. Chicago is a pimple on the earth's derriere

Some guys shot up a Black Lives Matter demonstration just recently. They got arrested but the push back will continue..

  4. Forgiveness does NOT preclude the death penalty. Remember the thief on the cross.

    1. Gorges, they'll never give these guys the death sentence. They'll do 6 years and be back out on the street. If the feds don't let them out sooner due to "overcrowding" and "compassionate judges."

  5. Hey Harry,

I know about this story but I did not know the killers were caught and the dad forgave them.
The killers all need to be executed. Forgiveness is up to God, in the meantime I believe in killing the killers.
The 'Black Lives Splatter' protestors will probably go apeshit on this one too.

I saw one of the 'Black Lives Splatter' dirtbags in the walmart parking lot throwing a half finished can of beer onto the parking lot pavement. I thought about saying something but it would of course escalate into a shouting match, followed by a physical violence and maybe a shooting incident which is not worth the trouble over a half a can of 'tossed beer' so I kept my mouth shut.

Down here in South Texas Mexicans leave dirty diapers from their Obama babies in the parking lots too. No one knows what a trash can is I guess?

  6. Executing murderous criminals does wonders for the recidivism rate.

We are all keeping our mouths shut. Look what happened to me in Chattanooga. I have since been able to repay some of that coin but the bad feeling is still there.

We live in the Third World now. Why not just accept it seems to me. At least I lived most of my life when the people that built the country ran it. Now the vampires that suck it dry and befoul it run the show. What the hell, I've had a good run. If I can get my kids out to somewhere better, I'll be satisfied. But where?

  7. My question is where is Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, which are both so called Christian Pastors?? You would think they would be the first ones out there condemning those that break in, defile and then murder a pastor's wife.. Oh, wait, white lives don't matter.

    1. Jackson and his ilk are hucksters, pure and simple. They have never been averse to seeing a few white people get killed, but they like it better when black people are the subject of conversation. That's how they make their money.

  8. Hey Harry,

On the subject of your kids.

    Maybe retry Canada somehow?

As per personal freedoms (except firearms) Canada may still be the way to go in the long run.

    1. Their experience at the Canadian border was so bad, and my own business with the Canadian immigration lawyer went so poorly, that I doubt I would ever make the attempt to comply with Canadian immigration laws again.

  9. ...when the people that built the country ran it...
Which isn't true anymore and THAT is the heart of the problem, to me.
Guys who laid a railroad across a continent, guys who built the Hoover Dam, guys who built 50 B-17s a day at Boeing - people today would look down their noses and dismiss them as bigots or even worse "conservatives".

    1. The values that made America a great country have been supplanted by the politics of "give it to me." Work isn't a source of pride anymore, it's for suckers. There's no stigma to being on the dole, it's a right. The millions upon millions of immigrants have no connection to the country, it's history, language, culture, nothing. But we have to adjust to theirs, and accommodate them. The government and the special interests work tirelessly to revise history and mold young people into good little drones, something they have been very successful at. Short of some catastrophic event that would take everything back to level and allow rebuilding, I don't see any way out of the death spiral. I look at Africa and Mexico, how they are run by Africans and Mexicans, and I see the future here.

  10. Harry,

I heard the story about this family, and I'm upset for the child who will grow up without a mother, a husband without a wife, and child.
These 3 men planned and knew exactly what they were going to do. They targeted multiple victims. I say they deserve the death penalty, and more. In reality, we all know they won't get the death penalty. All Lives Matter!!!

    1. It's sickening, and it happens on a daily basis. Most of the New England and Northern states have done away with the death penalty. It's too inhumane. So these murderous individuals will be back out on the streets in less than ten years. But they won't be rehabilitated, and they'll do the same to someone else.

  11. I would be the one going to jail not the 3 poor products of a bad environment. Because I sure as hell would find a way to kill those s.o.b.'s before they went to trial for killing my wife and unborn child.
Oh, by the way, I am a Christian. If someone doesn't see how that can fit with the way I present myself and my beliefs, I never said I was perfect. I am, however, forgiven.

    1. Pigpen, the more I try to figure out religion, the more confused I become. The Crusaders were Christians, and I'm more in line with their thinking. They had no qualms about dealing with evil when they found it. But this guy who lost his wife and unborn child and is going on every television program he can get on saying how he "forgives" the killers, that makes no sense to me. I have often thought to myself that I am more comfortable with the old testament, which at least I can understand, than the new testament which often seems to be in direct contradiction to common sense.
