The New X Files premiers on Fox , this Sunday (Jan 24) at 2200 (10:PM) Eastern

If there are any X- files fans out there,  you've probably been waiting for this, as I have.

With the original cast, this six episode series starts this coming Sunday. It's been advertised as "a six day event".  There's a precursor show, about the filming of the new series (again in Vancouver), I have it taped but haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

I'm looking forward to the programs and I hope the show is as good this time around as it was way back when it was one of the most popular series on television.

  1. Oh yes, can't wait. Seems it's a global release - we're getting it at the same time - for a change :)

    1. I bet it is, because Fox News calls Sky a "sister company".

I'm cold if I have to go outside 9 degrees F here this morning. I went outside briefly after taking a shower this morning, to check on the animals. My hair froze solid.

  3. Hey Harry,

    (captaincrunch)

Back in the 90's I had a bunch of friends that X Files fans and I had to sit through those shows with intense boredom.
Now on the other hand, the X-files movie was actually pretty good. I liked the movie. If the TV shows were more like the movie, I would have gotten into it.

One thing I gotta. I really liked the redhead FBI agent chick. She was a keeper.
I put in for a Sub-tender out of Scotland because there are a lot of good looking red headed women out of Scotland. Instead the Navy stuck me on a destroyer tender out of Norfolk (there are few single women in Norfolk)

    Now back to X-files....

I could not get into X-files. I find aliens on Earth almost impossible to believe. I am not criticizing anyone that saw a UFO, The scientist in me has a hard to digest it because of such facts as vast differences in intersteller travel.
As a reader and science buff of science fiction and on the basis of how since the Wright Brothers and the first moon landings all in the same century. I can surely guess if we do not have a giant worldwide war to eclipse WW2, and if moneys spent on wars, like the Global War on Terror were directed into NASA and private space companies and research institutions. Faster than light intersteller travel could be a reality by 2150. We would actually need propulsion systems that would exceed the absolute speed of light by hundreds of times. Little problems like Relitivity come into play and have to be solved (where's Einstein when you need him) Let not forget radiation. The crew of the super space ship that can travel at 100 times the speed of light would be subjected to radiation that would eclipse the radiation of a black hole and gravity (G Forces) would probably make the crew turn into chunky salsa on the aft bulkhead right after the FTL (faster than light) engines are engaged. I guess the crew would be 'cooked' Chunky Salsa on the aft bulkhead.

Yeah, we got aways to go.

    1. Well, I look at it this way. There's nothing intrinsically implausable about faster than light travel. As Morgan Freeman pointed out in "Through the Worm Hole" there are more suns in our Galaxy than there are grains of sand on earth. It seems implausible to me that only on our little planet has intelligent life evolved. So, his point was that there may be civilizations out there that are hundreds of thousands of years older than ours, and their technology may be incomprehensible to us.

Some very strange things have happened, that did not lend themselves to explanation. Who knows. One thing is for sure, I have no objection to "the willing suspension of disbelief" if it allows me to enjoy the program so I have always liked the X Files.

When my grandmother was born in 1905, there was no heavier than air flight. It was generally held to be impossible.

When my mom was born, people were still trying to make long distance flights across oceans.

When I was born, faster than sound flight was just getting to the point where it was considered plausible.

Now we have been to the moon and are looking at Mars.

Who knows what's out there. It's fun to speculate although if the aliens landed on the White House lawn, I'd head for the hills. Oh, I'm already there! ;-)

  4. I followed the X-Files religiously for their nine seasons on air. I had all the seasons on dvd as well. I have the first X-Files movie too; the second one I thought fell way short.
I have my dvr setup to record season 10. I had read the Duchovny and Anderson did/do not get along well on the set.

    1. There was a half hour special on about the making of the new series, and they seemed very congenial. People can change a lot in the number of years since they first worked together. I don't know much about the real people behind the characters.

    2. There are persistent rumors that the two actors were far more than friends. This can be easily Googled.

So it sounds more like 'Daytime friends and nighttime lovers"

    3. I had heard that before, but if so I wondered why they split up when the series ended. They seem like they have feelings for each other in the show, but you can't tell if it's just acting.

One thing, I was disheartened by how old they both looked in the new show. I like to think that we all live in void in terms of time, but of course we don't.

    4. Then don't go see the new "Star Wars" movie which features a seventy year old Han Solo!

Harrison Ford played the role great, though.....

    5. Yeah, he looked pretty old but he did a good job of acting .I always liked the guy. Too bad about his light aircraft but he has the money to buy another one, and he got some good press out of the crash. Not like poor old John Denver.
