Self Sufficient Mountain Living Blog : July 2013- Sept 2018.

I'm essentially closing down the blog.  Instead of concentrating so much on what goes on off my land, I'm going to focus more on just enjoying life in general and the forest and mountains in particular.

I'll still be coming by to visit blogs I always read in the past.

I won't be doing any posts in the foreseeable future, but I am going to turn comment moderation back on , so people can get in touch with me if need be.  I won't be checking the blog very often though, so if your comment doesn't show up in a timely manner, it's not that it got lost (or at least, probably not) but just hasn't been released.

I can be reached at philipnolan1953@gmail.com.

I hope everybody who has been reading this is doing well, and I've sure enjoyed your comments, reading your blogs if you write them, and getting to know you.

Harry

    Excellent!

    Wise!

Why continuously rile ourselves up, over what we have no real control over...?

Pull up the draw bridge. Savor Nature around us. Fill our minds with what we choose. Not with what "they" want, to stuff in our consciousness.

    Yessss!

    All the best,

  6. Hey Harry,

    (captaincrunch)

Sorry to hear that you are choosing to shut the blog down. I cant say as I blame you. Maybe start the blog back up again off and on during times of civil unrest, disasters or elections, whatever the case maybe so we can at least compare notes to see what is going on and where the problems are before the internet goes down.
This blog is a valuable resource for information sharing and comparing news and events.

I wish you and your family well 'Harry.

  9. It has been a great ride. Most bloggers make it about three weeks and three posts so you went WAY beyond the norm.

You were a favorite read here. Mrs ERJ and I have different interests but neither of us missed a post by you.

Thanks for hanging in there so long...and stay dry.

  16. Hey Harry,

    (captaincrunch)

I want to give you an update. There has been several interviews online and one on One America News with some white South Africans discussing land appropriation etc. I have been talking with some of these South Africans in discord. One South African is Daan Bernard Daan did an interview on the Hagemann Report three or four days ago. It was a really good interview. It is recorded if anyone wants to hear it.

Discord has turned into a huge resource for discussing topics and idea's with others from around the world, live in a voice chat and live discussions in groups.

South Africans seem to really like Texans and I have been name an 'Honorary Beor' A title I am proud of:) I wish my new friends in South Africa well and I hope the international community (and Donald Trump) will keep up the pressure on the ANC to reconsider land appropriation.

  22. Ah well, Harry, I wish you the best. I really enjoyed reading your blog and your thoughts. Always good to read someone put up "normal" content, and as a fellow firearms enthusiast, I enjoyed that portion also, quite a bit. Heck, now that we're up in Alaska, maybe I'll start a blog too, at least for a while.

Anyway, here's to hoping that you and your family do well. I'll miss my visits here. Take care and farewell.

  23. Well Harry, I certainly understand why you took this decision. I just wanted to thank you for all your past efforts. I have particularly enjoyed your posts, because I hold similar views to yours and because my location in Upper East Tennessee is similar to yours.

  24. Morning Harry: Sorry to hear that you are going away, so to speak, but it is understandable. At this point I have to agree that enjoying the time we have and focusing on what is happening locally makes sense. I hope that you might still drop in a post occasionally (monthly-bimonthly?) just to let your friends know how you are doing. If you ever make it out Arizona way there is always a layover spot here for you and the missus.

  28. Hi Harry, sorry to hear you are stopping the blog, as I've, and the wife, enjoyed reading it for several years. Not just the politics but also your daily life and the pictures of where you live. I don't blame you for wanting to enjoy it more. You are right that there is a balance to be achieved and I now limit myself to about one hour a day to the politics going on here as I tend to get carried away and start emailing politicians. It doesn't achieve anything and I get nothing else done. Apart from the fact I my clock is ticking and, as my wife says, you don't want to be miserable for your remaining years.
I was thinking of you when we saw the news of the hurricane. Hope you haven't been badly affected.
All the best to you and your family
    Regards
    Duncan

  30. Harry, when I saw the previous blog post pop up, I suspected this was coming. It's kinda what you did on the last blog immediately before shutting it down. At least this time there wasn't alot of arguing and sniping going on as seemed to be the case.

Hate to see it, as you are the leader type and people listen to you for this reason.... you know what you are talking about.

At least we got a solid 5 years outta you this time. That's alot in blog years.
