    1. Sue, not sure I am really back but I've certainly missed "visiting" with everybody. I hope your Christmas was a nice one, ours was quiet and comfortable.

    1. Hey, Brig. We didn't do a lot here. Kids couldn't come, and it has been cold and rainy for a long time. We watched the Mormon Tabernacle Choir that evening on TV and that was Christmasy.

I hope you and yours had a Christmas.

    1. Thanks Sandy. It was not bad. We have been staying home a lot, we're both pretty tired out, must be getting old! Nice in the mountains though. Pretty deserted. I hope Christmas was peaceful and quiet out your way.

    1. Well, we didn't get to see the kids, but they had a good Christmas in Nashville, and will be coming to visit us in January so we are looking forward to that. Pretty cold and wet here, and now a big storm coming in that they say will rain on us for five straight days and dump up to six inches of rain on top of all the other storms.... I could do without that!
Hope your Christmas was nice, Hobo.

    2. Thank you, Harry, and it was a nice Christmas.

It will be nice to have your kids visit when all the hoopla is over and more relaxed. And maybe with some nicer weather!

Happy New Year and hope you don't get webbed feet with all that rain! Only thing that kind of weather is good for is aquifers and ducks!

    3. Hobo, the rain has been rough. We have a lot of huge pine trees near the house, and they have been coming down with the ground so soaked, and the wind blowing. You can hear them falling, but all you can really tell is that a big one is coming down near you. You have to wait til the racket stops to see if it's going to hit the house or an outbuilding.

Today was a nice day, clear and warm. Maybe we will have a few more like it.

I expect a lot from this new year coming. 2018 was not one of my better years. ;-)

    1. Hey Brig, I think my program doubled your comment! Don't know why, but I've been sort of out of touch for a good while and I am not surprised Blogger has some surprises for me. ;-)

    1. Alissa, I was reading your blog the other day, and wondering how you keep everything going like you do, with work, family, and all. Especially since you have an active extended family. That's nice for holidays, though, seems more "Christmasy." All of my family is too far away to go visit, but the kids come as often as they can. They should be coming in January if all works out. I hope everything went really well with your Christmas.

    1. Hey, J. Thanks for the good wishes. I hope yours went well, too. Hope it isn't too much of a problem finding a shop set up.

  9. Hey Harry, so good to see you!! Have missed you and all the news about your family and critters. Hope you had a good Christmas even without the kids, but it won't be long till you see them. Hope you are all healthy and ornery as ever. Come back to us, please

    1. Everything goes pretty well here, Tewshooz. Too much rain, too much wind, but it's been a wet year here, glad to see it ending.

    1. Hey, that's a nice area up there. Used to go to a conference there once a year at the naval base. But that was decades ago, I expect it's changed, like everywhere else. For the better, I hope.

Christmas was quiet. New Years should be. I will listen to the scanners and see what's going on in town from a safe distance, up on the mountain. :-)

  13. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! So glad you posted :) Our out of state family left this morning. Our holiday was really good but now looking forward to that quiet action :) Hope your new year brings less rain and falling trees and good health to you and yours! Thanks again for posting!

    1. Westside Mom, I know what you mean. When my kids are here (and their two giant dogs, and the squirrel, and the Bearded Lizard they bring with them) things are a whirl. It's fun, but keeping up can be difficult.

I hope we have less rain and especially less falling trees. A falling tree is like artillery fire. You can't really help being there if it falls on you, it's just luck.

I'm glad you had a good Christmas. Today is Sunday, raining outside again. I made a big crockpot of stew this morning, then cooked eggs, bacon and sliced spam to put in the icebox and microwave later on, so we don't have to cook anymore today. Sunday is a day to sit by the fire and read a book while the wife watches fashion shows on QVC. ;-)

    1. Hey, Jana. All is well here, and it's good to hear from you as always. We didn't leave the mountain for New Years. As far as I know, there are no public celebrations in the county but I'm sure a lot of people had private parties, as I could hear gun fire way off in the distance around midnight.

    1. Hey, Becca. That's one of my favorite ferret pictures. There's a lady who paints beautiful ferret pictures named Stef, and I like her work too. This one is my Christmas picture, though!

    1. Christmas was ok. Kids didn't come home, so we didn't really do it up big. Watched the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas special on Christmas eve, that's an old family tradition my wife and I carry on. New Years, well, I'm hoping 2019 will be a lot better than 2018 turned out to be!
