Rowena goes in for her surgery next week.

Rowena has her surgery for the adrenal gland problem next week.  The vet will implant her with a subcutaneous chip that will release medicine into her blood stream over a three month period and cure her . Or, if not cure her, at least mitigate the symptoms so she feels ok.

The vet here had to order the chip, or we would get it done sooner.  She is the youngest and liveliest of the six ferrets and she should make a quick recovery.

  1. Harry - it seems we are both up in the middle of the night, probably something that we are both used to! i hope that little rowena makes a fantastic recovery - we will keep her, you, and all of yours in our prayers...as we always do. is jeff off on a bathroom trip? why isn't he in the pic taking care of rowena? do i need to come down there with the *ss-kicking boots and give jeff a go over? bahahahahah!

much love being sent buddy. your friend,
    kymber

    1. I was up late last night. I watched "Longmire" then couldn't get to sleep at all. Seems like if I miss my "bed time" I have difficulty getting to sleep. Not that I ever sleep very long, I wake up every two hours or so then go back to sleep.

All of the ferrets have been good to Rowena since she got sick. People come by and bring food, ferrets come by and groom the sick member of the colony. Like humans though, sick ferrets are grumpy and want some time alone. :-)

  2. Yeah, Harry kinda late for you to be posting....

Seems I'm always up at this time. I'm glad your little critter buddy has a good chance of getting better.

    1. I find myself sleeping less and being awake at night more. I have no idea why. Maybe because I take naps during the afternoon now.

She should be fine. At least this time we know what it is. When Faye died, the vet never did figure it out. Faye was treated for congenital heart failure, but the medicine did not work.

    1. I'm terribly fond of them and when one of the ferrets passes away it's really hard. I know that sounds stupid, but when you live alone a lot you get attached to your animals. I think Rowena will be ok.

  4. I hope she recovers quickly. Do you let them all run around at the same time? I've never had ferrets but judging by video I have seen, it would make for a lively ferret party.

  5. They all just live in the house with me. They are not allowed in certain rooms because one of their favorite things is pushing items off of shelves. Ferrets are like cats, they are very clean and use their litter boxes.

When the whole colony gets to dancing and singing (they really do sing together, it's a kind of "chuk, chuk, chuk" noise), it's quite a sight. Ferrets love to dance.
