Here's a link to the story about crooks selling ferrets as toy poodles.

Ferrets are not toy poodles or rodents.

I don't know what to say about this.  Giving an animal steroids from birth is pretty sick.  I don't see how this scam could have worked, because of dietary differences between the animals. Also, whatever the Huffington Post may say, ferrets are not rodents.

  1. I think I have been reading this blog enough to tell the difference. The ferret is on the left and the poodle is on the right. =P

    1. I think Obama got one of them for Michele's birthday. She's always wanted a miniature poodle.

  3. I remember seeing this on the news at least a year ago. I thought how could someone be so stupid to fall for this!? They don't look anything alike. Steroids or not.
But there are a lot if sick people in this world that will torture an animal to make a buck.

    1. I have been trying to find out what happened to the ferrets but haven't had any luck. I hope people didn't just throw them out in the street to die.

  4. Huffington post is just another media outlet. Why would anyone expect them to be accurate, about anything?

I remember the time I laid into a reporter for specifying a 6x6 was a "45,000 ton truck" (no, I'm not making this up). She couldn't understand what the problem was....

    1. I don't read Huffington post myself, but I needed a link to reference because I figured if I just told this story people might think I was making it up. Honestly.

You hear some particularly weird tales when the news people are talking about firearms, as well.

    1. Yes, it is. But as AHD said, some people will do anything for money.

  7. That's crazy! I actually collect articles like that for my Illustration class. A few other crazy topics I give my students to illustrate are: Squirrels Gone Wild - It's about CA giving squirrels birth control to control their population and another where they were selling giant rats as dogs. Creepy!

    1. Caveat Emptor. There are so many conmen in the world because there are so many easy victims. You'd really have to be stupid to mistake a ferret for a dog though, there is no correlation in their behavior.

    1. Well, I hope the ferrets in question found good homes. I'd have been delighted to have them, I think the "ferret poodles" look really good. But I am sure all the steroids would hurt them, they are pretty fragile animals.
