Spring storm.

This particular storm would have been more appropriate for late February. It's cold, about 43 degrees outside, and very windy.  The rain started yesterday evening and has not let up, sometimes coming down hard and other times just steady.

I had planned to go into town today but I'm not sure now that I will.  Getting out in all this is not an inviting proposition.

Last night I ordered a few things from Amazon, including the movie "Remnants" which has been years in finally getting released.  I look forward to seeing if it is any good or not.  There's a movie on pay per view right now about people who hole up in a cabin off in the woods, during an EMP event. I will probably watch it later in the day.

It got bad reviews so I am sure I will enjoy it.

  1. Our weather sure as been goofy this year, hasn't it. Must be the climate change the Liberals cry about. I think its just weather cycles, but hey what do I know. Would a Liberal ever lie??? At the drop of a pin.

    1. Something is different about the weather, though I couldn't say exactly what is causing it. I do know this, I don't want to go through another winter like this one, and I hope that the rest of this year is normal.

  2. I watched one the other night that got bad reviews titled "Goodbye World"

I can see why it got bad reviews and it was just too damned Liberal bent to be a good movie but it had a couple of valid points and a fairy tale ending.

I will send ya an email about the book...

    I should order "Remnants" myself.

    1. That's the one that's on pay per view. I should watch it this afternoon, I don't have anything else going on.

Remnants looked good, but then some big company came in and bought the rights to it before it was finished. They changed the script, and I haven't actually seen anything written by anyone who has seen it. But it only cost $13.00 on Amazon, plus S&H, so what have I got to lose?

      I'll check for your email.

    2. I went to watch "Goodbye World' on pay per view, but it was one of those they want $7.00 for, instead of the usual $4.75 or whatever it is. I figure I will just wait and buy it in the bargain tub at Walmart for five bucks.

  3. I hope the rain lets up, and that you enjoy your Amazon purchase!

    1. Alissa, still flooding down here at about 3:30. I ordered two books on guns, Remnants, and the first season of the X files. I have been watching the X files on Ray Uno channel, but they have started putting a big Ray Uno logo in the lower right hand corner of the screen and I can't stand it, so I figured I would just buy the video. Ray Uno is really low rent, they can't even get the right information on what show is playing on the satellite menu.

  4. Wow! You are really getting nailed. I hope the sky clears and the temps get warmer for you soon.

It is a beautiful day here today. Sunshine. Temps near 60 degrees. Light breeze. This is me, doing a happy dance.
I don't know if I buy into all the global warming hype, but I have to agree with you that the weather of late has been strange. This winter has been colder than in recent winters past. Last year we had a snow storm the first two days of May, which is unheard of, at least in recent memory. I'm hoping for a nice, normal spring and summer without any more surprises.

    1. Vicki, the weather is so bad here right now that I can't even listen to my satellite radio. I usually get four out of five bars on the signal strength meter, but today with all this storm going on I am getting between 1 and 2 bars.

I don't blame you for doing the happy dance. I would too. I went out and fed my chickens and the indoor barn cat, the rain was so bad I had to wear a poncho. We had a few nice days and now this!

  5. We had the same odd storm. 50 degrees on Saturday, then snow blew in during the afternoon. Snow and rain most of the evening, and most of Sunday. Today it's blowing and spitting but 70 degrees on Wednesday.... it's trying to hold on at least.

The moisture is great, the mountains are getting a lot. I prefer it warmer but will take what it gives. Circle of influence and all.

    1. I guess you need more snow pack out there to get you through the summer so snow would be good, if aggravating. Here we have had way more moisture than normal for winter. The little spring that bubbles up half way up my jeep trail is really flowing, more water in it than I can remember seeing before.

  6. Have you read "The Earth Abides"? Not EMP but similar results brought down on humanity. Easily found online, I seem to remember it on Amazon. You won't be able to put it down.
BTW, your storm is heading to Cape Cod tonight. Maybe thunder along with 40 to 50 mph winds. Hope you got through OK.

    1. I have heard of that book, but neer read it. I'm always on the lookout for some good recreational reading so I will see if I can find a copy. Since self publishing got to be the norm, it's not finding books on interesting topics that's a problem, it's finding good books, period. There are just too many out there and really no way to sort through them. I appreciate recommendations.

  7. I have learned that the movies with the best reviews suck the worst.

    1. That's been my experience. If I like a movie, the critics pan it. If a movie gets good reviews, I generally leave feeling ripped off and wondering what it was about. I suppose I must be an old style contrarian.

  8. Hope the movie is better than the experts say. We had the same weather yesterday. I ran on the middle school track, which was flooded, and rather miserable.

    1. I wound up not watching it because Direct TV payperview wanted too much money. I won't pay more than five dollars for a movie. I will just wait and get it on the discount rack. Don't make yourself sick running in bad weather. Your family needs you to be operational.
