Link to An Englishman in Dixie

In the last week I've read two books by Englishmen who fought in the Confederate Army during the War of Northern Aggression.  Now, by the merest chance, I ran across this blog. CC, this is a writer you will like.  Stop by and take a look, I bet you will enjoy it, folks.

  1. Hey Harry,

    (captaincrunch)

I read some of his stuff (an Englishman in Dixie) and I will check it out some more.

In regards to your response to my last comment on the OTM's taking over Texas etc. I can see the Atzlan taking over California, and New Mexico. Arizona may be kinda hard and Texas may be damn near impossible. We will have a war here in Texas over that and I stress that because all the oil billionaires with huge vested interests in Texas's oil will not let this state go without a really, really bloody fight. Some of the cultural attitude to fighting that exist in Afghanistan exists in Texas. We have been down this road before and we have a history and culture of independence and stubbornness that does not exist in other states (except maybe in Georgia)
The problem is being co-opted from within by Democrat Socialist. Then again the really, really big oil money may override that.

One other thing I have learned since our debacle in Afghanistan is if your going to invade a country, study its history, cultural. Examine its hero's and legends to gauge what kind of resistance you may encounter. Some cultures live to fight and invading them will only give all warring factions an excuse to work together to oust the invader and then every faction can go back to warring with each again and everyone is happy.

    1. CC, I think the Southwestern states have already gone a long way to being "reclaimed" through sheer weight of numbers. The Democrats have done all they could to expedite the process because they want the electoral votes of Texas, as well as your states Senate and house seats. If they have to destroy the current culture of the country to accomplish that then all the better. Many of the left wing are vehemently opposed to anything associated with white males. Anything that erases that legacy is positive, regardless of the consequences. It's difficult to fight that kind of assault.

    1. I thought the fresh perspective was very interesting. I was also intrigued by the coincidence of stumbling on his blog right after reading those books.

  5. G'day Harry,
Talking about Englishmen in the Confederate Army, there were at least 40 Aussies who signed on with the Confederate Navy. In January 1865 the CSS Shenandoah entered Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne to repair a propellor shaft & re provision after raiding Union shipping in the Pacific. This caused a huge amount of excitment in Melbourne, the locals turned out by the thousands to view the ship and the officers were entertained ashore by dinners and a number of grand balls.

When the ship sailed it had recruited 40 local men to it's crew which when this was discovered caused a legal wrangle between the Colony of Victoria, the British Crown and the US Consul in Melbourne.

    1. It's strange how much history gets lost over time. I had not read about this and I find it intensely interesting. As the South had virtually no Navy, there aren't many books about it. I know a little about the Confederate Navy but not as much as I would like to. Maybe I can find something on Amazon. If you know of any good book on that subject give me a heads up.
