Down the Rabbit Hole.
“There is no real ending. It’s just the place where you stop the story.”
― Frank Herbert
Gorges, it really is. Winter is a nice time here too, because the mountains empty out and there aren't a lot of people living here then.
JUGM is wanting to come up there for our 20th, hopefully it will look better in a few weeks. If not, I might need you to take some more pictures for me.
Senior Chief, I think the leaves will all be gone in two weeks. We had a big wind this week that took down a lot of leaves that would normally be there still. All the big fall festivals are over.I have many years worth of fall pictures, no problem there. ;-)
Harry,It's gorgeous up there!!!
Fall is a nice time here. Cool and dry, but not yet cold. It's nice to have a fire and wear flannel shirts again after the heat and humidity of the summer.
Stunning, Harry - just stunning!Hope the arthritis is better ?
Dani,I'm in good shape today. Got up early and have a full day of taking care of chores planned. My wife and I want to do something this weekend to break up the routine, but we haven't decided where to go yet. Maybe Chattanooga overnight.
Hey Harry,(captaincrunch)The weather here has been much warmer than the average fall.I plan to take some time to go to the beach tomorrow in the warm, dry and sunny weather and drive around and check things out.Harry'thanks for the reality check on the previous post. The oil boom down here has everyone going bonkers. I see 23 year old kids that work in the oil field buying fifty thousand dollar pickups and spending, five thousand dollars on custom rims and tires the next day.The wealth that's floating around because of the oil is unreal. New cars, new houses. This region is a giant boomtown. My house as increased in value almost 40 percent in three years.Everyone is trying to keep up with everyone else and I decided to not to do that years ago.I got a reputation as a bit of an oddball because I don't go along with what everyone else does. I had my house built in a bad area nine years ago even though all my friends warned me about the area. Nine years later, there are new houses all around my house that are much more expensive than my house and the crime has decreased dramatically. On the beach amongst the surfers, I kinda have the reputation as an asshole because, again. I don't go along with what everyone else does. I don't do drugs, I don't smoke pot and I ride a nine foot, six inch longboard and I catch most of the waves. I also have a bad habit of saying what I think.
Well, CC, given your age you aren't going to fit right in with the 20 something crowd, but so what? You seem to be a pretty self actuated fellow, and you strike me as a man who has about everything he needs. As for new cars and such, when I was young I wanted flashy, late model vehicles. I guess every young man does. But now, I put a premium on utility. I take my old F250 out in the woods, and if I slid and bump a tree on some old trail, it's a non event. My truck is sturdy and it suits me, which is all that matters. I figure if you know you have some bad traits, you should try to control them and not let them take over. Everybody does, there's nobody perfect I ever met. But I don't worry much about what other people think, because I'm not around them much anyway. I try to tone down some of my posts because I know for a lot of people any kind of intensity is unnerving. Shouldn't be too forthcoming sometimes anyway, because a lot of people read blogs who never comment. I'm comfortable with the people whose blogs I read, and who comment, because I feel like I know them to some extent. But you never know what evil "lurks" in the hearts of those you never hear from. ;-)
