Nothing like a little folk music at four in the morning. Not "Country Joe and the Fish" but it's still "Joe".

Years ago, I bought a Stoeger 12 gauge, double barrel, no external hammers. It has a nickle finish and an ebony stock.  I can't figure out why I bought it, but I think maybe I have a subliminal and deeply suppressed urge to be a pimp. Nothing else makes sense.

  1. Thugs in prison brag about their 9mm and 357 bullet wounds. Those who messed with shotguns are just dead.

    1. Shotguns have killed more cockroaches than Raid. But I still need 30 rounds.....

    1. A fellow sent me that who sends me lots of good things. He likes to stay in the background, though. I would never have found this on my own.

  3. The video was good for a laugh. I have the Uplander version of that Stoeger in 20 ga with the 22 inch barrels. As the model name suggests its an upland game hunting gun as opposed to a coach gun. Mine is blued and has the straight field stock without the hand grip. Its a bit heavy for what it is. Actually been thinking of swapping it out for something else.

    1. I've never even fired my Stoeger. I don't know, for the life of me, why I bought it except (1) it's a handy shotgun, short and easy to wield. (2) I liked the color combination of nickle and ebony. (3) I just wanted it......

    1. That's me. Very edifying music. I like "buy a shotgun" the best, but the "pick'in" on the "robots in the sky" isn't bad!

  6. The best and only valid reason for purchasing a "new" gun is exactly that. Because I want it. I hate all the weenies "What do you NEED that for?" America is not about need, it is about personal fulfillment. I usually counter with "Who are you to define what I NEED? I don't recall selecting you to define what I need..." I have an even more useless shotgun though. An old H and R 16 ga. single shot. It's about useless, I own better ones, but I liked the case colored receiver... It amuses me. So once in a while I take it out and look at it. And I am amused.

    1. I've got an H&R twelve gauge like that. I don't think I've fired it, but I like it. Got it in a batch purchase.I meant to trade it, but when I looked it over I thought it was a pretty solid piece and kept it.

Like the Roman Emperor said " A man is measured by his appetites." Some things don't change. I have a lot of guns I haven't used but just wanted.

    2. Hang on to those H&R single shots, there are unpretentious, solid, simple and not much to wrong on them. Both the Pardner and the Handi-rifle are very popular among the wilderness type preppers. Marlin that owns NEF-H&R 1871 has just announced they stopped all production in January. The are no longer being made. Certain barrels, especially those in pistol calibers that can be fit on the SB-1 shotgun receivers are no longer available new are now commanding close to 400$ in the used market.

    3. I figure a good single shot twelve gauge is always nice to have around the house. I don't own that many shotguns, I think I have 7 at last count.

    4. I have one of those H&R Pardners in 12 gauge - recoil is significant! Not pleasant to shoot at all. Have the 20 gauge 'Survivor' version, it nickled and the finish turns rust away pretty handily.

    5. I'm getting to the point where recoil is a factor. Never used to be. I still will put up with it as long as I can , as the 12 gauge is such a good weapon. At some point, instead of just being bruised and sore, I'll be breaking bones and I'll have to switch to 20 gauge before I get there.
