"Failed State", "Banana Republic"

Some harsh words for the Democrats on the news this morning.  Their little "hold my breath til I turn blue" gig on the floor of the House is being used as an example of just how bad things have gotten.

I was thinking, maybe the solution to the Red States/ Blue States is just to split the country.  California, New York, New England, the Pacific Northwest could be the Democratic People's Republic of Cloud Coo Coo Land.  The rest of us could have the old United States. I know a lot of  good people would become refugees. It would be similar to the India Pakistan split. But it would solve a lot of problems.  Portland could be the new Capital of the Blue State people.

The British are voting today on whether to stay in the European Union, or restore their independence. They'll have to get out to avoid becoming a Moslem state, but no one knows how it will go yet.

You can't control the flow of immigrants if you can't control your own borders. We've proven that to our cost in this country.  One thing no Western Democracy needs is more Moslems. But the leadership of the EU, like the current occupant of the White House and his party, seem intent on committing cultural suicide.

On a brighter note, I hear some more Mosin Nagants are coming into the country. The good old days of buying an "unissued condition" rifle, with all the accouterments, are over.  As Archie Bunker used to say, "those were the days."

Today it would cost you a lot more.

Back when these rifles were dirt cheap, in the late 1980's and the 1990's, most people ignored them because there was so much else to choose from. Today, the Mosin Nagant is about the only rifle you can buy from a wholesaler, they just don't have any large quantities of surplus military rifles anymore.

If you still have no rifle at all to defend yourself with, there's still time.  This new batch of Mosins (if indeed it exists) may be the last to come in.  So pawn your collection of Roy Orbison vinyl and get yourself a rifle. You could do worse.

These are hard to find.  The rifle is a Mosin Nagant Model 1938 carbine.  Like the Model 1944 except it doesn't have the heavy and cumbersome permanently affixed bayonet.  The 7.62X54R cartridge the rifle fires is said to be the oldest military cartridge still in use. It's a full powered cartridge, and will jar your teeth even in full sized rifles. The kick out of this gun is tremendous. Still, it fits right behind the front seat in a Cherokee if you have the back seats down. Very handy.

Once upon a time (1980's and 1990's) we were awash in cheap 7.62X54R.  A case like this, with the ammo in stripper clips , in the can, in the case, would run you about $100 delivered, and that includes shipping. Now just a single spam can costs as much, when you can find it.  On the positive side, back then reloadable brass was very expensive, and today it's very cheap. So if you reload, you can make up a good stockpile of components and be good to go.

We are in for another hot, humid day.  I was planning on going over to the little lake to swim this evening. We have the beach all to ourselves if we go after five o'clock.  Tomorrow we are going to the movies up at the big lake in the next county, to see  the sequel to "Independence Day."  I liked the first movie and this one looks good as well.

Thought for the Day:

perhaps a bit coarse, but certainly true.

  1. The Eastern parts of Washington and Oregon are bright Red. In fact, we would like to be part of Idaho. Also, there is a movement for northern California and southern Oregon to form the State of Jefferson. It is slowly making headway. Did you see the tons of food that was brought in for the crybabies in congress? Loved the 'Bring in the Clowns' video.

    1. I would have whipped up some exlax brownies for them if I had known they needed food. That would have assuaged their hunger and directly addressed their problem at the same time.

Since California, Oregon and Washington are blue states I doubt the Dems will ever permit them to calve off a new conservative political entity but hope springs eternal in the human breast. Being part of Idaho would be nice but only if an asteroid lands squarely on Boise and obliterates the mayor who is getting rich off importing Moslems for the Fed's.

  2. The concept of our nation splitting in two seemed far-fetched to me until recently. Sadly I see it coming now. I'm not the first to advocate for it, but I concur with others who are now openly talking about it. I think it is time for the U.S. to crash. Maybe then, if the pain is intense enough it may restore some common sense. Perhaps then can we begin to rebuild something where the constitution can prevail.

So yes...The sooner the collapse, the better. For those of us who are prepared, it will be OK.

It's why I moved here 10 years ago to the so-called redoubt states. There are still enough state representatives here that believe as I do. I hope that never changes. So far, I haven't had to deal with any moonbats, just your occasional white trash. I can live with that I suppose.

Let's send all the clowns to Chicago and make it the blue state capital. Portland is too close for comfort. --Troy

    1. Too many black people in Chicago. The leadership of the Demslike black votes but they sure don't want black neighbors.

Everything indicates that the country is largely divided into two diametrically opposed camps. In that case, either we split the country and everybody lives where it suits them, or one side massacres the other African style. I'm flexible. Either way suits me.

  3. Hey Harry,

Hopefully the people of Britain will break loose of their 'enslavement' in the EU.

I fear by 2100 Europe will be an 'Islamic Superstate' full of big brother gadgets and control freak toys. Its up the Europeans and especially the Germans to get nationalized again.
I really don't want to see fascism rise in Europe (either ethnic Europeans) or Islamic fascism. Either one suck's.

A little nationalism ok but full on fascism will never work.

    1. I wait with great interest to see if the British will vote to shackle themselves to a corpse. Barack Hussein has made it clear he will be very angry with the Brits if they vote to leave the EU.I am sure they are intimidated by that. :-)

  4. Hey, wait a second! I have residences in both Washington State (Blue) and Idaho(Red)! Do I need to apply for dual citizenship? I don't want to cede my rights in a Blue State.

    1. Jon, alas, as a conservative in the People's Democratic Republic of Cloud Coo Coo land, you won't have any rights. You'll have to wear a distinctive badge on your shirt, and eventually they will put you in a"reeducation camp". Better to just head to the Red. ;-)

  5. I'll take NH, VT and Maine. MA and NY can join some other country. Add in Canada’s Maritime Provinces – Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island and we'd have a great little country.

I know NH gives more to the Federals than we get back to we'd be ahead of the game right from the start.

    1. You'll have to get rid of the two Senators from Maine but other than that I think your idea would fly.

You can well guess my opinion on the idiots that staged the hissy fit on the house floor. Unfortunately our own rep Pingree was with them. Can't wait to get rid of that useless piece of elitist excrement.

  7. Harry the rest of the country is screwed but we live in the confederate states of America. It is just occupied territory.

The vote in Britain is Non Binding!!!!! The central banks will never allow a health nation to leave.

On the M-N you are just one shot away from a better rilfle.

    1. Gary, the results of the plebicite actually are binding. The EU is already making statements telling the British to facilitate their exit.

The Mosin is a good rifle. As you point out, it can always be used to get yourself a free upgrade if the situation warrants.

    1. The People's Democratic Republic of Cloud Coo Coo Land would be ok with that. Once rid of us (and the restraints of common sense) I'm sure their first act would be to ban weapons of any kind, down to and including butter knives.

  9. Please notice that the commie states would largely be coastal.Right after they ban all the weapons, all we would have to do is fix bayonets (Love the Enfield bayos!) and march them into the sea. Problem solved.
